If you sit at a desk for a living, there is a good chance you already own one: the thin elastic X-strap from a marketplace listing. Around $12, one size, one buckle. It looks fine in the video. Then you wear it for a week, it rides up into your armpits, and it ends up in a drawer.

Here is where those straps tend to fall short, and what to look for in a brace you will actually keep wearing.

A thin elastic X-strap posture brace

1. It comes in your size

Most cheap straps are sold as one size. Your waist is not one size, and neither is anyone else's. A brace that is too big slides around. One that is too small has to be over-tightened to close, which is the fastest way to make it uncomfortable.

The AEROBack Posture Pro 2.0 comes in three sizes, S, M and L, with the waist band length listed for each (82, 90 and 100 cm). There is a two-minute Find my size quiz on the product page if you would rather not reach for a tape measure.

AEROBack features: double shoulder straps, mesh panel, 6 support stays, waist wrap, sizes S to L

2. It holds its shape

Elastic stretches. That is the whole problem. After a few days of wear, a strap made only of elastic starts to bunch and roll, and it stops doing much of anything.

The AEROBack has six support stays sewn into it: two long stays down the back panel and four in the waist wrap. They keep the brace flat and upright, so the fit comes from the structure rather than from pulling the straps tighter.

3. It stays where you put it

An X-strap only anchors at your shoulders, so every time you reach for your mouse it creeps upward. A brace that also anchors at the waist has somewhere to pull from.

The AEROBack closes with a wide hook-and-loop waist wrap at the front, then a second strap pulls it snug. The back panel sits flat from your shoulders down to your waist and stays there.

4. You can wear it while you work

A brace is only useful if you can tolerate it at your desk. The AEROBack has padded shoulder straps and breathable diamond mesh at the yoke and back panel. It goes over a fitted tee, and a loose overshirt or jacket covers most of it.

It is made for short, focused sessions, not all-day wear. Think of it as a reminder to sit back, worn for a stretch of desk work, then taken off so you can move around.

5. You are not stuck with it

Unused braces in their original packaging can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery. Every order also comes with The Posture Reset, a free guide covering fit, a gentle build-up plan, a 10-minute desk routine and the desk changes that make sitting well easier.

The short version

If your last posture strap ended up in a drawer, it was probably the wrong size, made only of elastic, or had nothing holding it down at the waist. Fix those three things and a brace becomes something you actually use.
